Uveys
Uwais al-Qarani was a Tabi'i from Yemen famous for his devotion to his mother. Prophet Muhammad praised him as the best of the Tabi'in despite them never meeting, and requested his cloak for blessings.
Literally, it means 'small wolf' in Arabic, though it is also associated with the meaning 'gift' or 'bestowal' in some linguistic interpretations.
It is the Turkish rendering of the Arabic name Uwais (أويس), adapted to Turkish phonology while maintaining the original meaning and spiritual connection.
Despite the fame of Uwais al-Qarani in Islamic history, the name remains uncommon in modern usage, making it a distinctive choice that preserves ancient Islamic heritage.
It represents filial piety (bir al-walidayn), hidden spirituality, contentment with obscurity, and the possibility of reaching spiritual excellence without direct access to the Prophet.
