Unaysah
Unaysah bint al-Harith was a companion (Sahabiyat) of the Prophet Muhammad, known for her presence in the early Muslim community of Medina.
It is originally Arabic but has historical usage in Sindhi and Bengali Muslim communities through early Islamic transmission to the subcontinent.
It means 'she who is a good companion,' 'friendly one,' or 'intimate friend,' derived from the Arabic root for companionship and comfort.
Unaysah is the classical diminutive/formative form suggesting endearment, while Anisa is the standard feminine form. Unaysah is significantly rarer.
The specific name Unaysah is not mentioned in the Quran, though the linguistic root relating to companionship appears in various verses.
